in this video I’m talking about the resound Linx 3d hearing aid coming up [Music] hi guys cliff Olson doctor of Audiology and founder of applied hearing solutions and anthem Arizona and on this channel I cover a bunch of hearing related information to help make you a better informed consumer so if you’re into that consider hitting the subscribe button the resound Linx 3d hearing aid is the newest generation in the links’ line it started with the lynx then it went to link squared now it is on the lynx 3d the original lynx hearing aid that resound released several years back was definitely innovative it had that direct iphone connection so you could stream phone calls and audio into both ears at the same time directly from your phone without using an intermediary device well resound is back at it again creating new features in the 3d line one of them which is really cool that i’ll be covering here in a minute so other than their really cool new feature that the Lynx 3d hearing aids have what makes the resound Linx line of hearing aids a really good go-to option for pretty much anyone with hearing loss well let’s take a look Pro number one of the resound Linx hearing aids is sound quality sound quality is obviously very important with hearing aids and anytime that they do these comparative studies or comparative surveys they end up identifying that resound ends up coming out on the top of these surveys more often than not now if you happen to think that sound quality is the most important factor when deciding which hearing aid to go with then you’re in luck but when I look at hearing aids I look at another really important factor which is durability which happens to be Pro number two one of the things that I consistently notice in my clinic is that resound hearing aids tend to go in for repair less often that being said I do teach my patients a lot of preventative maintenance that they do at home on their own in order to make sure that the hearing devices don’t end up having malfunctions and then of course they always come in for their routine follow-up visits to where I can do a very in-depth preventative maintenance check on their devices but that being said anytime that you have to take your hearing aid in for repair that is basically time that the hearing aid is not in your ear providing your benefit which is why I than to believe that durability is the most important thing when it comes to a hearing aid Pro number three is the ability to directly connect with an iPhone with not just the behind the ear models but the inner ear models of hearing aids as well direct connectivity from a smartphone is almost a standard in care nowadays it’s great because it allows you to stream audio directly from the phone whether it’s phone calls whether it’s podcasts whether it’s my personal favorite YouTube videos but with the resound Linx line of hearing devices you have access to this connectivity and pretty much all of their devices in the 3d line anywhere from the behind the ear models to the inner ear models this really gives it a leg up on some of the other manufacturers that have this direct connectivity but it only goes to the behind the ear model Pro number four is that you can still use any of their resound accessories one thing that resound is great at is having accessories that interact with their hearing devices to help you hear better in a variety of different situations even if you don’t have an iPhone to direct connect to your hearing aids you can use these remote accessories to interact with your Android phone or your flip phone not only that but you can stream audio directly from a TV and they even have a remote microphone feature that you can clip on someone’s shirt so if you get into a really noisy situation you can function even though there’s a lot of that background noise and Pro number 5 is the remote adjustment capabilities with resounding resound assist is the really cool new feature that they have in order to let you get programming adjustments from your hearing care professional directly through your phone into your hearing aids so let me cover how it works the first thing you do is actually go into your app once you’re in your app you can actually go into my resound and request assistance once you request assistance it kind of shows you how it works basically you can define the problem and send a request your hearing care professional will create and send updated settings you receive those settings and upload them into your hearing aids so let’s go into it a little bit more so basically they are ask you a series of questions and you can indicate which of these problems you’re having let’s go on to next we’ll just say that none of those are an issue hit next and say maybe that the hearing aids are too muffled or unclear then we hit next again and it’s basically happening all of the time we’ll hit next again and it’s pretty annoying so we’ll hit that and then it’s happening in both ears and it no matter which program you go to and so we’ll hit next again basically it takes all of that information that you just submitted and sends it off to your hearing care professional and you can type any kind of a message that you have there as well and send that request once you send the request it says thank you and the request is given to your hearing care professional once your hearing care professional has those problems that you’re experiencing they can either reach out to you and get more clarification or if they identify what the problem is they can go ahead and go into your programming settings make the adjustment send it to you and then you can upload those settings right into your hearing aids from the comfort of your own home so it’s definitely a really cool new innovative way to actually get adjustments done on your hearing aids without having to really leave your home or if you’re in a completely different state from your hearing care provider you can get those fine tuning adjustments without having to fly back to go into that clinic I really feel like this remote assist feature is going to be something that you find in pretty much any hearing aid as the years go by and it’s just another testament to resume being on the forefront of technology change that’s it for the pros but as always there are always some cons to pretty much any hearing aids and in the links’ 3d line of hearing aids I found to con number one is the look of the hearing aids even though the Linx 3d hearing aids or resound hearing aids in general are relatively invisible when you wear them at least the behind the ear styles are the one thing that I don’t like about them is that they’re really not that sleek looking compared to other hearing devices that you may be used to seeing even though you know I it’s not a big deal I happen to like when a hearing aid looks really sleek and futuristic resound definitely does have those types of hearing aids though and con number two actually has to do with the remote adjustment capabilities of these hearing aids having your hearing devices remotely adjusted is definitely a really cool feature but there are just some things that you can’t do without going into your hearing clinic for instance how do we identify if the device itself isn’t malfunctioning without putting it through test box measures and another thing is is that how do we know that you aren’t just adapting to the sound of the hearing aid maybe your hearing levels have changed your hearing thresholds have changed we can’t identify that remotely and then the other thing is is that what if you have earwax build-up it’s actually causing you know the muffling of sound or a problem with you thinking that your device is having an issue with the programming these are things that you can’t do remotely and it really necessitates you going into a clinic so until we identify a way to resolve these issues of remotely programming devices a resounding will be a nice feature but it won’t be the mainstay of really good audiologic care there you go those are the pros and cons to the resound Linx 3d hearing aids really solid hearing aid and resound continues to prove that it is on the forefront of changing technology and bringing that technology into a real-world product just remember the number one most important thing when trying to maximize the benefit that you get from your hearing aids no matter how much money you spent is real ear measurement now this is the first time that you’re hearing about real ear measurement I will link a video in the card up here and put it in the description below to give you a really solid understanding on the most important aspect when getting your hearing aids fit for your hearing loss that’s it for this video remember that sharing is caring so if you like the video go ahead and share it and if you want to see more videos just like this one go ahead and hit that subscribe button I’ll see you next time [Music]
