Hi people, my honour is David from Payette Forward. And I’m David from Payette Forward. And in this video, we’re going to show youhow to put your iPhone into DFU mode and then do a DFU restore. Yup! A DFU restore is the deepest type ofrestore that you can do with an iPhone, and it’s sort of the last resort for any Appletech when there’s some software problem that they can’t solve. If you think there’s a hardware question withyour iPhone, it’s a good idea to DFU restore it first. Other people watching this video are probablytrying to jailbreak their telephones, which is totally fine. No belief, or maybe they just want to puta different versionof iOS on.Anyway, we’re gonna cover everything for aDFU Restore and let’s get right to it. Okay. Now we do recommend that you back up youriPhone first. Yep, and we’ll have a video on how to backup your iPhone in the description of this video, right? So, this is an iPhone 7. Um, it’s space right now. There’s nothing on it, but I have an iCloudbackup that I’m going to put on a little bit later. What you need to know about DFU restores isthat the process is a little bit different for iPhone 6s and below and iPhone 7 and above. So for iPhone 6s and below, we’re talkingabout two buttons with the DFU restore.On 6s and Below, we’re talking about the powerbutton and the dwelling button. With iPhone 7 and above, we’re going to beusing the power button and the volume down button. That’s just because with the iPhone 7, theycreated a brand-new residence button that isn’t a physical button. So they needed something that they could actuallyclick and target the phone is off. Um, so let’s get to it iPhone 7 DFU restore.The first thing “youre supposed to” do is to plugin your iPhone to personal computers. You can’t put your iPhone into DFU mode unlessit’s plugged into iTunes. So plugging it in push it into this Mac now. I’ve never hooked up this iPhone and syncedit with this iTunes library before and that’s totally okay. It’s okay to use a friend’s back to do thisor anything else.We’re just employ the Mac right now as a toolto restore the iPhone. So let’s say you’re having a problem withyour computer. It’s all good. So iTunes is now open on this Mac and I’mgoing to put this into DFU mode the good thing about DFU mode is that you can mostly putan iPhone into DFU mode and dismiss everything else that’s going on. So even though they are your seeing, Is off of the screensoff or perhaps the screens undermined, you don’t know if it’s broken and sometimes you canput it iPhone into DFU mode even if it seems like it’s completely dead. Surely something value trying before yougo to the Apple Store for mend because the tech will time do it there. So how do you lean an iPhone into DFU mode? There’s eight seconds we have to worry about. If you’re an Apple tech, what the fuck is tellyou is for the first five seconds, hold the ability button and the publication down button together.Then let go of the supremacy button and maintain regarding the capacity down button. Similarly, iPhone 6s below the first five secondshold the capability button and the residence button down together, and then let go of the powerbutton and stop accommodating the home button. So the only road you’re in DFU mode is if itshows up in iTunes, it says it spots an iPhone and your screen is completely black. There are no exclusions to this rule. So, um, okay, let’s sound. Ok. Now all you can really do here is eject thephone if we don’t want to do or recover the iPhone, which is exactly what we want to doI do so there’s a couple of things to be aware of here. The first one is if you merely sounds this buttonnormally and this is probably what everybody’s going to want to do or most people let’s sayhaving a problem with your iPhone just click this button what’s going to happen is iTuneswill ask you are you sure you want to restore this phone to its plant specifies? Everything will be rubbed and then the newestversion of the iPhone software will be installed iTunes.So what iTunes does is it goes to Apple serversand it downloads the most recent version of the iPhone operating system for you. Can take like 10 20 minutes depending on yourinternet connection and then it’ll be good. If you regenerate your phone another 10 -1 5 minutes, depending on your phone, there’s another option now. So most people should just click rebuild anupdate it now our speciman is a little bit different and if you’re jailbreaking your phone or doingsomething nefarious or if you’re like the americans and we’re running a beta of iOS 11 at this pitch. We need to do it a little bit differently. So instead of having iTunes, uh, go aheadand download the rehabilitate folder by itself from the Apple servers. We’re going to choose a enter that we alreadydownloaded to restore from and we’ll link to the website where you can download theseiOS copies description. Yep. And so, the way to do that and there’sa little ruse for Mac a little quirk for PC on a Mac you supported the alternative key ona PC you impounded the Shift key, and while you’re doing that, click on “Restore iPhone…” And insteadof popping up with the iTunes little container that asks if you want to restore it their acces, you’re going to get this little pop-up andjust choice the software.So I’ve downloaded this iPhone 7 beta of iOS1 1, which I’m going to turn in my iPhone. So what happened right there? Something wentwrong clearly. So my iPhone kicked out of recovery procedure kickedout of DFU mode for whatever reasonablenes. Maybe we took too long, maybe personal computers, youknow, whatever.Let’s placed it back into DFU mode. So even though it’s not fully turned on yet, I can really do this. This is a good teachable moment. Right. Wait, “ve been waiting for” the screen turns off … 3 seconds. One … Well, the screen has to be all the way off. I’m accommodating the home button. Let’s settled this into DFU mode. If this was an iPhone 6S, that would havetotally use. Let’s time an iPhone 7! Right. Screen’s off. Threeseconds: two … one … Let exit of the superpower button. Keep regarding thevolume down button. iPhone goes into DFU mode. OK. Nice! Alright, regenerate iPhone: I’m gonna remain the alternative key and click onthat to select the folder, and smacked restore.And now we play the waiting game. We do indeed! We’ll fast forward through these loadingbars … So after iTunes does its thing for a littlewhile and it starts the rebuild process, what you’re going to see is the Apple logo appearon the screen with a little status bar progress bar in the bottom that’s going to exceedingly, veryslowly work its mode across the screen. Now, don’t get your hopes up when this finishesbecause you got another status bar coming.Yeah! Another one right behind it, but it’sa lot faster than the first status bar. So we’re going to go back into our time warp. Yep. Cause this is … So we’re done with the first progress disallow. Got the Apple logo on the screen. Excellent. You think it’s gonna turn back and you’re done, but you’re not done. There’s another progress bar. Be patient. Yep. You’re almost there! Almost there. 25 th mileof the marathon. Welcome to your new iPhone it says! So our DFU restore process is finished. Now, a good deal of beings query, you know, I want torestore it from my iCloud backup or I have activation lock turned on. Do I have to usemy computer to do any of that trash? And the answer is no! At the Apple Store, when peoplewould have their telephones DFU restored, our goal one of our aim was to get parties outthe door as fast as possible.
