Exactly fifteen years ago, we launched our first iPhone …. Ahh I miss those days! The iPhone 14, 14 Max 14 Pro… and the iPhone 14 Pro Max are almost there but… Should you buy one? **Big changes** are expected in this new model. And some.. unknown ones too Which refreshing, we should discuss, for example: Will there be a new color perhaps? new model? The end of the slit! And a few other things that changed the way I approached buying a new iPhone…so I thought I'd start putting some iPhone 14 videos together to help you make that decision. I'm Alex and I'm making tech videos in real life.
Video of Steve Jobs Unveiling the Original iPhone I think those were different times with Steve Jobs announcing something very revolutionary. Social media was something called MySpace and "leaks" were something you needed a plumber to sort out. Or a urologist. accommodate! Stop revealing my medical information. Well, let's start by restating some facts, what do we really know so far? It's early but we already know a lot. As I have always been scouring the internet and every clickbait site available to give you what I believe is the most reliable information. Things will change very quickly and information will change very quickly about the iPhone 14… but I'll keep you updated here, no doubt! ** Release Dates ** Begin with release dates. Apple's event where they announced the new iPhone 14 is likely to be on September 6 or September 13 this year. Given that Labor Day is September 5th in the US, the likely date for a keynote speech this year is the 13th and it's released that week as usual, making Friday the 16th the most likely date when you can actually buy a new iPhone. . There have been some reports that the iPhone 14 Pro Max specifically is a bit late in production but the situation is "under control".
If anything changes in that I will tell you here, I will be following this closely for the third year in a row. ** Pricing Strategy ** We don't really expect any changes to how the iPhone 14 is pricing but there is a big change in the lineup. The most obvious change is the lack of an iPhone Mini. Sadly, another change is the upgrade of the memory on iPhones to 6GB across all models. Obviously these are estimates and assume they will keep the 128GB version in line …which I personally think is silly but it's part of the plan. Apple's pricing strategy has always been designed to make customers believe we need a more expensive model, so please pay attention to that.
** New colors ** What about the new colors? With the new iPhone, we can expect a new color. And rumors point to a new shade of purple. So my friend AppleTomorrow teamed up here with a couple of shows, so I hope you enjoy them. But let me know if you like the idea of a new purple iPhone 14 anyway. Personally I think it's cute, but I would like it to be a little more purple than my iPad Air 5 which had purple written on the box, but it's…so silver! ** No score! **Let's talk about that notch, shall we? And here's where I think the first or first "catch"…the annoying aspect of the new iPhone 14.
There is a set of "Pro only" features. And it's clearly designed again… to make us spend more money right!? Do you remember the cinematic mode? He looked amazing at the Apple event and the announcements. But if you have an iPhone 13 Pro, be honest with me here… How much do you really use cinematic mode? Without ideal lighting conditions, in the studio where they make ads… bad! That's what I recorded this morning and…all over the store. Decent bright day and everything except. yes. Mostly noise. ** Titanium version? ** One of the features that I like the sound of it .. is the titanium version. This really excites me. But it doesn't seem to happen. I'm a clumsy I'm not going to lie but… this is the 13 Pro Max and you can see an aberration here. I dropped it from waist height! And I awkwardly fell at my desk feet, but I feel like it shouldn't. So a stronger frame would be great! Despite this, bag manufacturers may be concerned about this .
Titanium by itself doesn't actually look very attractive, but Apple has filed some patents for.. to make sure titanium has a more attractive appearance and is less prone to fingerprints. But not much has been leaked about this. I would love if this is true. ** No physical SIM card? ** Another "incorrect" report is that … Apple will bring some eSIM models to the iPhone 14. It appears that Apple has advised major carriers that there will be an eSIM model. Not all models seem to have this but I personally think it's a good trend overall. I'm worried about what will happen when you travel to a country where the network isn't set up for an eSIM…I don't know enough about this technology though, if you do let me know here.
** 2TB model? ** And here is another problem, which is in the storage options. There seems to be a new model 2 TB. This will be very useful if you are using iPhone to take ProRes videos. They create huge files very quickly. Like a 1-minute 1080p video in ProRes, it takes up about 4GB of space. If you want to shoot 4K video in ProRes, that's up to 6GB for 1 minute of video at 30fps. Personally, I think these are going to be very specialized use cases where you might be using an iPhone instead of a professional camera and in that case… you really appreciate that extra spike in quality. But do you want to transfer ProRes video from iPhone to another device using your existing Lightning port? Yes good luck to us! This may finally be the end of the Lightning port! There have been some rumors about this MagSafe port but no one is really sure.
Do we still need another type of charging and data transmission? Really…why can't we just switch to USB-C like everyone else? I'm going to make a separate video about it because I think there's a lot to unpack out there but I'm really intrigued… Do you **you** think Apple is finally removing the Lightning port from the iPhone 14? Use the word LEGEND in the comments section so I know you've seen this now too. Which makes you an absolute legend.
Bonus point if you use the leg emoji! While you're there, YouTube can be weird sometimes and not showing this video to the right audience, so please hit like (if you enjoy this video) it's really helpful . I'm still a small channel but it really helps when you interact and if you like my stuff it would be great if you subscribe too. Share this with a friend that you think Mike likes. The benefit to you is that I'm here at least once a week with a new realistic art video I hope you like. And I'm definitely going to get the new iPhone 14. So expect plenty of comparisons to the Pixel, S22 Ultra, 13 Pro Max… in addition to the usual factual reviews I do. This may be the first time since the iPhone 7S that I might not opt for the Pro Max, for the larger model. Especially if the cameras are the same as they were on the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max… this time I might stick with the Pro version. we will see. **Cameras** When it comes to cameras…they kind of put me to sleep..what? I have to be honest! I'm a little silly, but you know what I mean.
The camera on the iPhone – and it's always been amazing. We take it for granted sometimes. But there are areas where other devices like the S22 Ultra, or even the Pixel 6 Pro here… do a much better job than Apple. When it comes to Portrait shots for example, the S22 Ultra is out of this world! One aspect of Android phones that I love is how fun it is to use the camera software ! for me anyway. With Apple, it's pretty much all about looking consistent and looking very good but too boring to use.
But there are some hardware upgrades for the camera. We get a 48MP sensor, it will actually be a more massive phone because of that, the camera module looks bigger. The lenses will stand out a bit more from the iPhone 13 than the leaks we've already seen. I'm sure we'll get a lot of great premium features, you know… as is the Apple Marketing branding but there is one feature that I really appreciate! This is the front camera. We get autofocus with the front camera and a wider f/1.9 aperture. instead of f / 2.2. I can bet this will be called something like Cinematic Selfie.
Anyway, this is the camera with which you talk to your friends and family the most, so it's good to see them in better quality. ** Should you buy one? ** It's a bit too early to recommend anything except as a rule of thumb which seems to really work with the new iPhones as follows. If I'm coming from an older iPhone, in which case I'd go with… Older iPhone 11, version 14 would be a good upgrade. Things can change but from what I know so far, iPhone 14 upgrades don't seem to matter if you're coming from an iPhone 12.
Certainly not important enough from an iPhone 13. But depending on where you are, what carrier you're using, and of course…your personal reasons. …the promotion could make a lot of sense. As I did last year, I will provide a very detailed buyer's guide, considering different scenarios from the point of view of performance and comfort, using my own kind of real world style. YouTube thinks you'll love this video here.
And I also compiled this playlist here. I'm getting close to 200 videos on the channel, so there's a chance you'll like one of them. We hope to see you there!.
