iPhone 15, 15 pro, iPhone 16 pro Max… one option could be to even skip the 16 this year! shoot that wasn't meant to happen yes the new iPhone 16 is here and whether you are upgrading from another iPhone or perhaps jumping from Android to Apple there are many choices when it comes to the iPhones if you don't want to wait for the Nuance in this video in the detail I'm going to share here or if you just want a little snapshot to refer to throughout the video as we go through all the options. I've put together this little table here for you whether you like me now' have a recent iPhone it's the 15 Pro or you have a much older iPhone maybe the 14 the 13 it's that time of year for a lot of people including myself to consider an upgrade this is now the fifth edition of this video and as I do every year I'm going to try to help you and possibly save you and your wallet from Apple's marketing let's take a quick look at what we're dealing with here if we talk about the iPhone 16 series quite a few changes on the regular 16 to be fair out of all these changes, although the one that caught my eye was the macro lens, they really did something to the regular iPhone that finally makes it worth it worth will make the camera placement is obviously interesting to me and is supposed to support Vision Pro videos, but I like this camera placement for another reason, I personally much prefer to watch videos in landscape mode and this placement is supposed to encourage people to record less vertical videos anyway I'm taking what I think is great sorry Instagram and Snapchat the pro series even if it's a little less exciting but I will say that the changes in the software this year will actually make you feel more of an upgrade than the 14 to 15 or 13 to 14 on the one hand, yes the iPhone 16 will bring a big camera upgrade especially from a camera sensor perspective on the pro series, but on the other hand it looks and feels exactly as it has done for the last five or six years not the most inspiring Design This is for example the 15 Pro and this is 16 Pro Max and yes very very similar the this is a dummy device by the way this D they send me is definitely going to be what the iPhone will look like but it's just so you know I won't get the iPhone ahead of time and it's a shame about the design because apple as a leader encourages by this kind of others brands to do the same and they do right although to be fair other brands bring in like new form factors so their customers will at least feel like you know they have more choice and as always like every year there is always that trick with the pro- series right.
some key features you could argue could also be on the standard iPhone 16 is only available on the pro series Apple is the Masters letting people overspend what can I say right buy stocks this first scenario we're going through here's where you already have an iPhone but that iPhone is now at least 3 years old so we are talking iPhone 13 and older if you have an iPhone 14 or 15 bear with me because I also have some options for you while the features significantly moved on since 2021, the iPhone 13, especially the pro series is an amazing phone for me, I honestly think that if I didn't do this YouTube video here my manager would have no reason to upgrade right now not since that phone we have much better cameras now of course we finally have impressive screens on the iPhone on most models anyway and of course the battery life on the 13 we'll go on a bit now but if you go straight to the iPhone 16 and this is where the Nuance comes in using the iPhone 16 Pro Max as an example as you can see here, let's choose a budget of I don't know, let's say you have $500 to spend, it's practically impossible be upgrading to the 16 Pro Max because when you sell your 13 Pro Max because you're pretty optimistic here between $400 and $500 it's going to be hard to do that you're still going to need at least $700 extra from.
of course it will also differ from your carrier, your contract might need to be renewed and you might get an extra deal there, but just looking at this total cost as a reference point here, I personally think to get the 15 Pro Max and i have already started seeing them selling for $550 $600 for the 128 gig version even the 256 gig selling for that price yeah its hard for me to recommend the 16 Pro Max and to charge you another $700 too late spend you can spend an extra $200 maybe $300 however one point i want to remind myself even that if it makes financial sense and it also makes you happy why wouldn't you upgrade right your happiness is an important factor that no matter what any Tech Creator tells you you know there's something about owning that premium Tech that's something you know it goes beyond the features and you know whatever the device does these days there's an aspect of is the latest in big that may be important to you, it may also be useful to you for your work and if you can afford it without you knowing overspending and kind of getting into debt or whatever you know you worked for it you deserve why not and depending on your current plan like i said you might be able to get an upgrade from your current provider anyway or better yet you took my advice in the last 2 three years and you saved up for the 16 in which case yes, the latest iPhone 16 Pro Max will give you that peace of mind that you won't have to upgrade anytime soon, which brings me personally to the iPhone 14 option which wasn't a good phone for me, I have all kinds had issues with my 14 pro Max I got rid of mine pretty early in the cycle and at the time happily used the s23 ultra and then the fold 5 as well as a second phone but most of my issues were iOS 16 related, I think the improvements on iOS 17 and now 18 will make the iPhone 14 a decent option, but I'd say if you really want the iPhone 14 pro or Pro Max, I'd wait a bit for some comparisons to come out to come, including on this channel and let's not forget that even the iPhone 14 plus or 15 plus could also be a decent upgrade, because in my reviews I found the device to be a very solid phone to put the screen on using the plus isn't as good as the pro range but i was impressed with its general usability when i tried it if you want that bigger screen without the extra cost and weight of the pro max then is the plus definitely a decent option for you and there's also the aspect of the dynamic island right you might not mind the fact that it's that older Notch rather than the Monkey Island Dynamic Island and another scenario here you can be like I need a new iPhone but my budget is really right now as an example it could be an iPhone 11 you have now even the 12 you know is a bit on now so you have a iPhone 12 Pro Max can have even now and think yeah the batter is dying a bit the camera you know isn't up to par with everything else you see on social media I wouldn't feel too bad though by not getting the later 16 but there is an option for you I hope I can help you here that feels like a stepping stone it will still feel like a decent upgrade without having to spend you know almost $1000 on this phone, and it's the iPhone 13 Pro series, I think the 14 could be it too if iOS 18 runs well on it and the battery is decent, but if you're really tight on the budget the 13 Pro you know it's a fantastic phone you get a great camera Awesome screen without the crap Dynamic Outland and I actually regretted selling mine.
Safara Blue version such a good phone anyway the iPhone is a bit of a Hidden Gem for me not many people would recommend it because you know the shiny new object syndrome but yes it is definitely worth considering this one here is always a bit of a tough scenario what if you know you're going to get an upgrade no matter what i say or someone says right you know you're going to upgrade but you're not sure if you should get the regular iPhone 16 the 16 Pro or indeed the pro Max I realized very late in the game that I bought the wrong iPhone I always go for the bigger iPhone and recently all the pro Max is the version what I'm going for but aside from showcasing the features here for these videos I never personally used all those features I don't know many YouTubers will admit it but yes it's true I recently downgraded from the pro Max to the pro.
I gave the pro Max to my wife and I honestly believe it's the best one for me for my use anyway a more manageable size to be honest it's not my main phone either but there's something right that is what I miss on the pro Max version and there's only one thing that's the 5x lens and it's not because of the zoom but because I really like the look of that lens you know the way it just taking things down is just CI meant there are other phones that achieve a similar thing but the 5x on the pro Max is one thing I miss the 3x on the pro is excellent though and it was very rare when I had to get that close coming from a zoom perspective so I would say one if you really don't want that massive screen on the pro Max but you do want all the pro features and two you need that Pro Image quality for your photos and videos but you don't really need that extra telephoto reach then the 16 Pro will be the best one for you, usually you end up saving $300 just by being sensible in that choice alone between the pro and the pro Max now for the regular iPhone 16 models I would say a key area here you know where you can save more money is on storage size, definitely consider moving your photos and videos to another cloud service instead to keep them on the phone or even keeping within iCloud, it is not so convenient, but it will also help you save money, not only you know in Hardware, but also in monthly subscriptions Apple upgrade on the storage.
St is crazy expensive not only on iPhones but across the board so I would try to avoid that if you personally I might go for the 256 gig on the pro and the thing that helps me every year is the fact that I Using Google Photos right, there is a cost associated with it every month, but I like the flexibility of not being tied to yet another Apple service. a big consideration that can actually lead you to the new iPhone is the software and there are two main types of profiles that Apple can target here, one is the current Apple user who is bored with iOS, probably everyone with the other one is actually Android users can be bored with Android too and fania switching to Apple there are a lot of people in my comments saying that in both cases and I think this is the first year in the last five or six years that the new iOS features will actually make the iPhone a viable option for those two types of users, even more so if you're coming from an older iPhone or another Android phone and that's all because Apple intelligence, some of it will undoubtedly be quite gimmicky, but this space isn't slowing us down' AI features will only continue to improve, and if you know the type of person who upgrades every year, the iPhone 16 with apple intelligence will also be a good choice from a longevity perspective, but did you know it's going to come if you already have an iPhone 14 or 15, I think the iPhone 17 will bring even more changes from a hard drive perspective and is possibly the one that will get me really excited about iPhones again because there are rumors about An iPhone 17 Ultra coming later may also be affordable from Apple, so if you're on the 14 and 15 I'd say consider just skipping the 16 as well and the last consideration is business if buying a new iPhone you know helps you create more opportunities in your business you know get more customers grow your social media which then generates more customers you know just generally also be more efficient with your mobile device than the upgrade though may seem like a big expense, it can very quickly be upset by the fact that you would bring in business because of that improved quality in your work, definitely consider the aspect, but don't expect the iPhone 16 to be a productivity beast don't be I definitely think there are better options out there, gotta be honest here and you're in luck too, because especially if you're subscribed because as I've been doing for the past few years, I'll be comparing all these devices in my usual flat on earth.
I hope to see you soon and good luck with your purchase.
