– Hi guys, David and David here from payetteforward.com, and in this video we are going to explain why your iPhone battery is draining so quickly, and then we make 14 tips-off for the battery life of your iPhone. – I used to work in an Apple Store, and parties always came in with this problem. This problem is stimulated 99% of the time by the iPhone application. “Theres anything” wrong with the physical artillery in your iPhone, so we ever did a artillery check, that came back positive if the battery was okay, and then I registered them how to do these tips-off, and parties left and had a much better battery life. So that’s what we’re going to show you today. Our firstly battery-saving tip is? – Is push mail. Convert push mail from push to retrieve. – So with push forward obstructs your iPhone a constant connection to your e-mail server. And your iPhone is always asking for that server, is there email? Is there email? Is there email? Is there email? So instead of letting that happen we can change your iPhone from push to retrieve. That mode we determine how often your iPhone checks whether there are new mail or other modernizes. – Sure, so how do we do that? First, let’s open the Settings app on your iPhone, scroll down to Accounts& Passwords, and tap Get New Data. The first thing we do here is the switching next to Push off at the top of the screen. – Mhm. How often will we now collect new data on your iPhone? And the answer is up to you. But in general, I elect every 15 instants. -[ David] Yes. – Because instead of your iPhone constantly had asked for the server, is there new mail? We tell the iPhone to check every 15 times. – Yep. – And that’s often enough for me. – And then you can always just open your Mail app, and then the mail is automatically retrieved. – Exactly. – Whenever you open it. – Yep. – So I sounds every 15 times, that little check mark seems, and now you’ve switched your forward from push to deliver. – Mhm. – Well done. – So let’s go back to the primary Situates menu on your iPhone, back to Chronicles, back to Settleds. And our next gratuity for saving the iPhone battery, we’re going to take a look at Location Service. Now Location Business are one of the things that stir the iPhone so great to use. It’s the GPS. It allows your iPhone to know where “hes in” the physical world. So I am not saying that you turn off Location Business fully, because that would just be a hindrance. Instead, we are going to identify the Location Service that use the iPhone battery in the background, and the apps that is not include Location Service need to have turned on, so– – Perfect. -[ David] In the Settings app we scroll down to Privacy. -[ David] Privacy. – And then we sounds Location Services. -[ David] Okay. – Like I said, you can use the location assistances turn off at the top, but I don’t suggested that. Instead, I demand you to look through the register of apps and specify which apps need to know where you are. Ask yourself for any app, does this app need to know where i am? If the answer is no, then turn off Location servicing of that app. – Well I am sure Apple Watch Faces app don’t need to know my site, so I tap it, and I sounds Never, that blue check mark appears and now Location Assistance is off for the Apple Watch Faces app. – Mhm, so on the left of the Location works aims you have selected for each app you sometimes accompany these little arrows. So let’s take a look at the index of arrows at the bottom of the screen. And we start at the bottom. A grey-headed arrow means this app use your orientation in the last 24 hours. And don’t forget that your battery life is going to decrease. So be informed of those apps. The second from the bottom is a purple arrow, and that means that app is now employing your spot. So be careful with those apps specially if you see that. And then there’s the cavern violet arrow, and that indicates geo-fencing. Geo-fencing is one of those Location Services that lets your iPhone know when it reaches a specific location has entered or left. So you can say, “Hey, iPhone is reminding me to to pick up groceries when I leave work today. ” And so your iPhone restrains track of wherever you, and where you work, and as soon as you leave he will remind you to run errands. The trouble with that is that in order for the function to work, your iPhone constantly needs to keep track of your orientation at work. And so this type of Location Work, this geo-fencing, the number one culprit in my experience of the battery consumption of the iPhone. So if you are eligible to, you shouldn’t use this facet. So the last place we’ll be in this part of the Settings app, is under System Service. -[ David] I tap that. – Mhm. So now we have a list of Location Work that affect the operating system of your iPhone. For example Compass Calibration, Emergency SOS, and then there are some nefarious things such as Location-Based Apple Ads, Location-based App Suggestions, Set Time Zone, if you are not traveling across different go zones, you don’t have to wear this. So I recommend that you check this list almost every of them. – Yes, I turn off Mobile Network Search, Compass calibration, I leave the emergency SOS on just in case you need it. -[ David] Yap. -[ David] Find my iPhone, make sure to leave it on in case you lose it. HomeKit, I don’t need that. Location-based alarms is that thing that when you leave work, you inform. Now countless beings will question, does this mean that my iPhone is not connecting with mobile phone networks? That will still toil. – Great, so Apple Ads turn that off, Location-based Suggestions off, Motion Calibration& Distance, I make unless “youre using” your iPhone as a pedometer you probably don’t need it. -[ David] Mhm. – Time zone adjust does not apply in respect of me. You certainly don’t want to share my location. Wi-Fi Calling I leave on. -[ David] Mhm. – Because I use Wi-Fi Calling and Wi-Fi Networks, I turn it off. – There’s one more place where battery exhaustion disguises, in Important Locating, formerly called Frequent Locations. So time sounds that. -[ David] Face ID approval. – So your iPhone has the capability to follow you everywhere, that’s nice. So let’s take a look at your list here. – Lots of New York facsimiles, actually I am time been on a trip north a while ago, and I have a lot of locations here. – Right, but who are required to that? – Not me. – Yes, we don’t have to keep track of our locations. Let’s turn off Important Locations fully. -[ David] Tap the switch , now it’s off, those spots are travelled. – Okay, back to System Business. So now at the bottom of the menu, we look Product Improvement. This goes data regarding your iPhone be transmitted to Apple makes, we don’t have to do this. So let’s just do iPhone Analysis, Popular Nearby, Turn off Routing& Traffic and Map Improve. That is their job to find out. We don’t have to consume our battery telling those things. So that’s pretty much the end of the Location Work. – That’s the end of Location, it’s a long gradation, but it is really great for your iPhone battery. – Mhm. Let’s go back to the main Privacy menu on your iPhone for the next gratuity. So we’re now in Privacy, moving to the bottom, and you consider Analyzes. Tap on that and then on Share iPhone Analysis. This meant that your iPhone has data regularly about the method you use your iPhone, to Apple and other app developers, so that they can develop mends, not something your iPhone should do in the background, because it does extra things, it drains your artillery. So let’s just turn that off. – From. -[ David] Yap, iCloud Analytics, let’s turn that off. And then all these others when you verify them– – Shut it down. – Turn it off, that will save your battery life. So our next saving tip for your iPhone’s artillery, is shutting down your apps. This is kind of a contentious topic, numerous people say it makes a difference numerous people say it stimulates no divergence. As an Apple tech with event in working with hundreds of iPhones, I can tell you for sure that this does make a difference. And the reason is that sometimes apps don’t work as they are able to. Apps aren’t perfect, the App Store isn’t perfect, developers are not perfect. So, what this does is it forecloses those problems. – So first we have to open the app switcher on your iPhone and then close the apps. So to open the app switcher, iPhone 8 or earlier, double press the Home button, iPhone 10 you swipe up from the bottom of the screen, you pause in the middle, so now we are in the app switcher. iPhone 8 or earlier, you swipe up from the top of the screen. – Yes. – iPhone 10 the same, we have to press and nursed first until this little red minus button emerges, and then swipe them up from the screen at the top of the screen. – You may have 40 apps open. This will save the battery of your iPhone, despite what other people say, it works. – All the route. Our fifth gratuity for saving your iPhone battery is to turn off the notifications you don’t need. So notifications are those little pop-ups that rarely show up on your iPhone. Now notifications can be good at times like verse contents, we want to know when people are texting us, for that “were leaving” notifications on. However, there are other apps that may notify you and you don’t have to. To constitute notifications operate, need to run the app in the backdrop of your iPhone, just to give attention if it should inform you, so by turning off notifications for apps who don’t have to warn you every now and then, you are going to save the batteries. – So go to the Settings app, scroll down and tap Notifications. – Now look through your roster of apps here, ask yourself, should this app be able to message me if something happens on my iPhone? Do I need a pop-up notification? If the answer is no, turn off these notifications. Then let’s take a look through yours. Okay, let’s see, I don’t need notifications of the Mr. Time app. – Yes, so when you open this menu, only put off Notification at the top. There are ways to get the notifications that you get in your iPhone to adjust, but it is easier to disable them all. So just go back to Notifications in the top left corner of the screen, take a look at this list, turn off notifications for apps that don’t need to notify you from time to time. So what’s our next he battery-saving tip for the iPhone? – Then we disable widgets that are not needed. Widgets are small mini apps that are on your iPhone, they give you a little bit of information about what’s going on in that app. – And how do I get to see which widgets running on my iPhone? – Well, you can swipe from left to right on your home screen until you reach this menu with a few widgets, i have the Batteries widget, ESPN widget, and the condition widget. To incapacitate any of these widgets, tap the round edit button and then the crimson minus button next to the widget you want to remove. – Mh, widgets are mini apps like David said, they always run in the background. By removing these, we reduce the number of apps running in the background of your iPhone and we save your battery life. – Yep, tap Delete again, then tap Done in the upper right corner of the screen, and that Weather app widget is gone. -[ David] It’s gone. -[ David] Simple. – Mhm, so what’s our next artillery saving tip for the iPhone? – Our next tip-off is to get your iPhone once a few weeks. – Your iPhone is a computer. It is a small computer that you carry in your pocket. If you left a computer on, it is permanently connected to the wall and he would eventually slow down. It is important to your computer sometimes turn it off and on, the same travels for your iPhone. How do we do that? – Well iPhone 8 or earlier, press and hamper the ability button, until slither to disable sounds, swipe that dominance icon from left to right, it turns off your iPhone. iPhone 10 is a bit different, press all side buttons and work buttons, so slide to turn off seems, slither it out, your iPhone is turned off. Wait a instant and turn it back on. So our next tip-off is to Refresh Background App for apps where you don’t need it. Background App Refresh is a bit like Notifications, but it’s a little bit different. It enables your iPhone apps to add new material download in the background, even when you’re not apply your iPhone. And that destroys your battery life. So let’s go to the Settings app, and then to General, and then to Background App Refresh, sound on that, and now wonder which of these apps in the backdrop of my iPhone new content should be able to download when not have them. -[ David] A bunch of them to me frankly. I generally turn these substitutions off just about every time. – So “re going through” the list and turn it off for almost every of your apps. That’s what I do, that’s what David does. – Yep. – So our next tip-off to battery your iPhone to spare, keep your iPhone cool. – Apple designed the iPhone like this that it runs most efficiently between 0 degrees Celsius and 35 positions Celsius. If we get above 35 or below 0 grades, you can run into troubles. – So leave like your dog don’t leave your iPhone in a red-hot car. You have to know that extreme heat can permanently damage your iPhone battery, and that is not good. Cold temperatures will injury your iPhone’s battery however temporarily deflate, but it will not cause permanent damage, it is currently working again as soon as it gets warmer. So are particularly careful with hot temperatures. – Our next tip-off is to take care of it that auto lock is on. Car lock is a function that the screen of the iPhone turns off after a certain time. If you don’t have it on can your iPhone screen burn in your pocket forever, that is not good. – No not at all. – How do we turn it off? Let’s go back to General in the top left corner, and go back to Settings, and then scroll down to Display& Brightness, and then we read vehicle locking here. David has now Never turned on, and why did you turn that on? – Well, because we’re taking a screenshot for this video. – But he’s always careful to turn it off after we do this. – Right. I would auto-lock in other circumstances do not leave on Never leave, except for recording YouTube videos. – Never say Never, except in this circumstance. – Yes. So we sounds on vehicle fasten, and only select something other than Never, I frequently choice two to three minutes, it’s a good balance between 30 seconds and five minutes. – I’m more of a two-minute man myself. – A blue-blooded check mark performs, you’re done. – So our next battery-saving tip for the iPhone is to turn on the Reduce Movement. Now the visual impacts are in your iPhone, and any gamer will tell you this, one of the main reasons why iPhone batteries drain so quickly. Your iPhone is computer like I said before, and it has a small graphics processor inside, and that’s what’s responsible for all those little thought livings that happen. But every time an living is determined, the artillery of your iPhone is drained. So, many times we can turn off these features, and you won’t even notice certain differences. So how do we do that, David? – Well, we’re going back to Display& Brightness, and back to Situates, and then we tap General, tap Accessibility, sound on Reduce Motion, and turn on the substitution next to Reduce Motion, you know it’s on when it’s green. – So David shows them how it wields. – So I swipe up and go back to the home screen. – Right, and instead of a neat animation swiping up and animating the app, it simply fades into the background. Doesn’t really feign the space on which you use your iPhone, but it can save battery. – I frequently leave Abbreviated Movement on, and I never noticed the difference. – So our last battery-saving tip for the iPhone is DFU recovery from your iPhone. Before you decide to do this, make sure you do the changes that we have proposed holds at least a few epoches, because a lot of the time, you will have solved the problem by changing these settings in the Settings app. If the battery of your iPhone nonetheless still depresses too quickly, you may have a deep-seated software problem that can only be resolved with a DFU restore. A DFU restore will remove everything from your iPhone and then turn it back on. So make sure you have an iTunes backup first, or an iCloud backup. Let’s was an indication how to make an iCloud backup. – Okay, let’s open the Settings, and then you go back to the main specifies page by tap these back buttons. -[ David] Mhm. – And then we’re going to tap my list at the top of the screen, of course it is your name on your iPhone. -[ David] Mh. Unless your figure is David Lynch. -[ David] That would be a co-occurrence, interesting. Tap iCloud. – Scroll all the way down to see your iCloud Backup. David incapacitated this facet. – Make sure it is turned on. – Yep. – Make sure you precisely turned that on. Start iCloud Backup, okay. – So this could take a while. IPhone backups are automatic, as long as your iPhone is connected at night, and connected to Wi-Fi and the screen is off. It is a good function to just have on. – Yes, and once iCloud Backup is set up, then have a look at our DFU videos, there is a map above, and a tie in the description. – That’s pretty much the end of our roster with battery saving gratuities for iPhone. What should we do now when we’ve done all this we did a DFU restore and still have a problem? – Well, you might be in that 1% that their battery needs to be replaced. Go to your regional Apple Store, or look at Puls, an on-demand repair company, they send a technician to you, which replaces the artillery on site. – But before you do that, make sure you’ve tried all these gratuities, because often people pay for these artillery replacings, and nothing modifications. It is the software that campaigns this difficulty. – So thanks for coming for watching this video, hopefully your artillery is better. Leave us specific comments below if it help me out here.
