While the iPhone 4 artillery is a big improvementover its precedes, over season its capacity will diminish, and youll feel the pressureto buy a new phone, just because it doesnt hold service charges like it used to. Heres the big-hearted mystery: you can replace thebattery yourself. It only takes about 10 minutes and is waycheaper than buying a whole new phone. Hi, I’m mj with iFixit, and today I’m goingto show you how to replace the battery on your iPhone 4. This might be the easiest repair you’ll everdo, but just in case, you’ll want to follow the fixing guide on our site. Tool-wise, this amend couldn’t get much easier. All you’ll need is a Phillips # 00 screwdriver. I’m working the one from our 26 article fleck driverkit, some plastic opening tools and your replacing artillery. Now there is a chance apple didn’t use phillipsscrews on your iPhone. Apple has also been using a 5 point tamperresistant pin, and if your telephone has those, you will want to check out our iPhone 4 liberationkit. It comes with the driver you will need toget those fucks out. The only trick to this repair is to make surethe silent switch is activated and the phone is powered off before you begin. So to start, I’ll remove these two Phillipsscrews on either side of the dock connector then I’ll push the rear panel toward the topedge of the iPhone– It’ll merely move around 2 millimeters. After slithering it upward a little, the rearpanel should come off readily. Theres simply one bolt I need to removeto free the artillery, so Im going to remove it and then…Use my iPod opening implement to gently pry upthe battery connector. Youll want to only pry it from the topand bottom of the connector, and be careful not to lever against the pressure contact. Once that screwing is out and the connector isdisconnected, I can remove the antenna contact from the phone and set it aside. Now I can use the plastic pull-tab to removemy old battery. Apple squandered an unwarranted sum of adhesiveon some iPhones, so if youre really struggling to remove the battery with the pull-tab, tryusing an iPod opening tool to pry up the battery instead. With the old battery out, I can put the newbattery in; before you connect the battery connector, make sure the insignificant little pressurecontact is in position. Too, clean off all of the metal-to-metalcontact points with windex or some other kind of degreaser before you reassemble your iPhonebecause the lubricants on your digits can cause wireless interference, and with AT& T as yourcarrier you really cant afford that. KIDDING! Not genuinely … After Ive emptied off my points of contact, Im ready to reassemble my iPhone, and I can get back to playing Angry Birds withoutkilling my artillery. Of course, you can find the parts and toolsyou’ll need for this and many other fixings at iFixit.com. And if you run into questions during your restores, there are tons of resources available on the iPhone 4 restore manual page. Thanks for watching, and fortunate repairing !.
