Hello everyone, Apple’s September event is close
now and internet is full of leaks and rumors about upcoming iPhone 15 models. Obviously, nothing is
sure until it’s confirmed in that event but let’s wrap up from the leaks and rumors what we know,
or think we know at this point. Let’s get into it. iPhone 15 lineup is expected to have four
models, and same sizes as the iPhone 14 models, 6,1” regular iPhone 15 and 15 Pro and 6.7” iPhone
15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro Max OR this last one could also be called iPhone 15 Ultra. Both names
have come up in the leaks and at some point, it was pointing to iPhone 16 to have Ultra
model but lately it has been pointing to iPhone 15. We shall see what we get.
Rumors so far suggest that there are two major design changes that
everyone will instantly notice. One is dynamic island that came with
the iPhone 14 Pro models last year which is now expected to come all iPhone
15 models this year, not just pro models. The other big design change is the USB-C port
that is replacing lightning port on all iPhone 15 models.
And this is big as iPhones have
had lightning port since iPhone 5 from 2012. And this transition from lightning port
to USB-C has already started with some Apple devices and now reaching iPhones as well.
We have also seen from the iPhone case leaks that Pro models are expected to have an Action button,
like what we saw with the Apple watch ultra. This action button is replacing mute switch and
based on the latest iOS 17 beta versions, it can control variety of functions including the
flashlight, camera and possible third-party apps. Regular iPhone 15 models are expected
to have many different colors, and there’s been many leaks during past week
so let’s see, we might even get pink iPhone. As usual, with iPhone 15 Pro models we
are expected to have less color options, latest rumors say that popular gold color
option would not be in the Pro lineup this year, instead there would be a new gray color.
And color options don’t end up with the phones as we are also expected to have
color matching charging cables that comes in the box with each device, this time
with USB-C connector on both ends.
These color matching cables are expected to come at
least with iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models. Previously, all iPhone models have
come with a white lightning cable. And before we continue, if you’ve been enjoying
so far, please smash that like button and consider subscribing if you haven’t already done so.
Now, with the new iPhones, we always want to know, what kind of camera upgrades we will get.
With regular iPhone 15 and 15 plus models, there are multiple rumors, but it seems that
all are pointing that iPhone 15 and 15 plus are getting a new similar 48 megapixel sensor that
Apple used in the iPhone 14 Pro models, but the sensor size would be a little smaller than in the
14 pro but would still be an improvement over the 12 megapixel sensor in the iPhone 14 models.
For the Pro models, Apple is expected to bring a periscope zoom lens.
Periscope lens technology offers optical zoom capabilities that exceed those
possible with a standard telephoto lens, allowing for 5x or even 10x optical zoom.
With a periscope lens, the iPhone's zoom capabilities would be significantly enhanced as
the current Pro models are limited to 3x zoom. Now there has been speculations
and rumors that this would only come for the Pro Max model, we shall see.
Under the hood, the iPhone 15 Pro models are expected to be the first to feature an
A-series chip built on Apple supplier TSMC's next-generation 3-nanometer node.
3nm chip
technology is expected to increase processing performance by 10 to 15 percent, while also
reducing power consumption by up to 35 percent. The faster A17 chips will be limited to the iPhone
15 Pro and Pro Max, while the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will adopt the 4-nanometer A16 chip that was
first used in the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. We’re also expecting Apple to upgrade
to Wi-Fi 6E on the Pro models. Compared to Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E offers more
bandwidth, providing faster connectivity speeds, lower latency, and increased capacity.
All iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models will use the same Qualcomm 5G modem chip,
likely the X70. Qualcomm's X70 chip offers improved AI for faster processing speeds, a better
coverage range, improved signal, lower latency, and up to 60 percent improved power efficiency.
Apple is expected to be placing larger battery in each of the iPhone 15 models, some by up to 18%
And if this happens and if we have previously mentioned energy efficient processor and
5G modem chip, we might be getting a nice bump up on the everyday battery life.
So we shall see soon what we’ll get. And of course, I would love to hear
