While the iPhone 4 artillery is a big improvementover its precedes, over day the national capacity will decrease, and youll feel the pressureto buy a brand-new telephone, precisely because it doesnt comprised service charges like it used to. Heres the large-hearted secret: you can replace thebattery yourself. It merely takes about 10 minutes and is waycheaper than buying a whole new phone. Hi, I’m mj with iFixit, and today I’m goingto show you how to replace the battery on your iPhone 4. This might be the easiest repair you’ll everdo, but precisely in case, you’ll want to follow the fixing guide on our site. Tool-wise, this fixing couldn’t get much easier. All you’ll need is a Phillips # 00 screwdriver.I’m use the one from our 26 section bit driverkit, some plastic opening implements and your permutation battery. Now there is a chance apple didn’t use phillipsscrews on your iPhone. Apple has also been using a 5 point tamperresistant shaft, and if your phone has those, you will want to check out our iPhone 4 liberationkit. It come here for the operator you will need toget those screwings out. The only trick to this repair is to make surethe silent switch is activated and the phone is powered off before “youre starting”. So to start, I’ll remove these two Phillipsscrews on either side of the dock connector then I’ll push the rear panel toward the topedge of the iPhone– It’ll exclusively move around 2 millimeters. After slipping it upward a little, the rearpanel should come off easily.Theres simply one clamp I need to removeto free the artillery, so Im going to remove it and then … exert my iPod opening tool to gently pry upthe artillery connector. Youll want to only pry it from the topand bottom of the connector, and be careful not to pry against the pressure contact. Once that nail is out and the connector isdisconnected, I can remove the antenna contact from the phone and set it aside. Now I can use the plastic pull-tab to removemy old battery.Apple employed an undue extent of adhesiveon some iPhones, so if youre really struggling to remove the battery with the pull-tab, tryusing an iPod opening tool to lever up the battery instead. With the old battery out, I can introduce the newbattery in; before you connect the battery connector, make sure the minuscule little pressurecontact is in position. Also, clean off all of the metal-to-metalcontact points with windex or some other kind of degreaser before you reassemble your iPhonebecause the oils on your thumbs can cause wireless interference, and with AT& T as yourcarrier you really cant afford that. KIDDING! Not really … After Ive cleaned off my points of contact, Im ready to reassemble my iPhone, and I can get back to playing Angry Birds withoutkilling my battery.Of trend, you can find the parts and toolsyou’ll need for this and many other amends at iFixit.com. And if you run into troubles during your repairs, there are tons of resources available on the iPhone 4 repair manual page. Thanks for watching, and joyful repairing !.
